I was always intrested in cryptocurrency. I became involved in cryptocurrency by mining ethereum with my gaming computer. Ethereum is a cryptocurrency that is well adapted and heard of by people who are familiar with cryptocurrency. Ethereum is mineable meaning that you can help process transactions that occur on the ethereum blockchain with your computer. I mined as a hobby for a couple months and earned some ethereum that I could either exchange it for USD or for another crpyocurrency. I used some of my earned ETH to exchange other cryptocurrencies on a decentralized exchange called uniswap.
On Uniswap I performed trades for other cryptocurrecies. However, I quickly saw my electric bill rising and decided to quit mining ethereum after recieveing all my mining payouts. A couple months later, I came across the Uniswap airdrop that was happening for seven days.
Uniswap was giving people who had performed trades on their platform before, 400 of their newly released tokens/cryptocurrency. All I had to do was pay the fee (less than $3) to have the transaction executed and then wait a couple minutes to receive my tokens. Everyone who participated in this event received 400 tokens. At the time, Uniswap was worth about $7 a token (400 times 7 is $2,800). I didn’t exchange any of my tokens in hopes that the value would soar up in value. It ended up sinking to $3 the next few days. But, I held onto it and kept it in my wallet. I checked the value of the tokens every couple of weeks. 2021 came around and there was a huge change to the value of UNI. It had gone past $30. At one time my portfolio of tokens was worth $6,500!! Now the token is now hovering around $35 a token.
